UKTV broadcasts and their message board for The Murdoch Mysteries

Well, I am thrilled to see that at least two people are watching the show on UKTV. There is quite a discussion going on between two fans on the message board for The Murdoch Mysteries.
I wonder how many really watch the show every week and how UKTV is doing with their ratings. I have no way of knowing this info or finding it out.
Anyway I do not mean to be sarcastic, I would love to see more people discussing the show much like they do here and on IMDB which is having a rollicking chat, check it out. I of course put in my two cents over at IMDB as an objective bystander (??).
But I would also like five seasons of our show and less waiting time to see if it will be renewed year after year.
I happen to think we have one of the best new programs on Canadian television, but it is the audiences who decide that as well as the reach of the broadcaster.
10:00 on Thursday night is a tough time slot for any show and the fact is that we are doing very well in that time slot for a station that only gets out to half the country. Yannick's home province of Quebec does not have a CITY tv station yet. I would think that would greatly expand things for us. In due course I hope.
Perhaps next year we will get to all the country?
Tune in sometime next week and we should find out.
And while your at it, I believe Child's Play is next on this side of the pond which really is a very touching and challenging episode. More about it later.
Finally was it not great to see Murdoch plant one on a female in tonight's episode of Still Waters? Or did he?
I don't want to spoil the fun for the UK viewers who get this episode in week 8 over there.
Last I saw Murdoch having some fun was back in the MOW of Poor Tom Is Cold. Or was it a dream?
I'm teasing you folks, but those of you who have seen Still Waters know what I mean.
One final word, is Tom Craig not just brilliant as Brackenreid?? Both Maureen and I absolutely love his portrayal and we are hoping if we get season two. that his character has to go off for the gold cure like he did in the novel A Journeyman to Grief. If you have not read that one yet, poor Brackenreid has to dry out and Murdoch helps him with a particular cure so he can get out of the hell hole of the hospital he is forced to go off to. Read the book, you will howl. I can just see Yannick and Tom Craig pulling that off, it will make the whole second season worthwhile.

According to the CityTv site, Belly Speaker is next on the broadcast list..
Belly Speaker - Roddy Grimesby is found dead from a lethal ingestion of varnish. When the police show up at the crime scene, the victim’s son Harcourt – a ventriloquist – is found hiding in the closet with his look-alike dummy Mycroft. Even more disturbing than the similarity, is the roiling bond between the two – much like hostile brothers. Although Harcourt confesses to the murder, Murdoch spots inconsistencies in the story that make no sense – unless there was a third party involved. Harcourt had been in the room when Roddy was killed. He would have seen the killer, but why is he protecting his identity? In a shocking turn, Murdoch learns that Harcourt has a twin brother named Mycroft. Maybe Mycroft killed Roddy; and Harcourt is protecting him. But just when it looks like the case is solved, Murdoch sees something in a Grimesby family photo that puts a whole new twist on things.

Yes thanks, we have not seen that one so we are like everybody else. Straight home after the signing next week

seeing the show is aired so late, you would think lots of people would be taping the show. I assume that would also count for the ratings or not?

Was just going to say that Belly Speaker is going to be next which is particularly interesting for GWD fans but was trumped by a previous poster. :)

I have just been on both of the sites message boards, and as you say there are not many people contributing. I have been trying to find out about viewing figures and have come to a dead end. The trouble here is that if you do not have cable or sky you cannot see it so I do not know if the figures will reflect this. I have to confess to having to tape it because it is on against CSI and my husband does not watch anything historical, so I get to watch it later all to myself, but does this affect the viewing figures.

It's good that they repeat it because it is impossible to compete against CSI anywhere. Peter Outerbridge, at the time he was doing Murdoch, was in a pilot show that did 4 episodes on ABC on a Friday night about an attorney's office in LA. Each episode was like a movei of the week. IT was a superb show, but it was up against CSI Miami on Friday nights.
Too bad, the show never got picked up.
At least on UKTV they repeat it over and over so it probably picks up a nice audience by the time it is all said and done.
Ahhh, we await renewal news
