More on Stratford
There are two songs I think about when I go to Stratford. Ride a White Swan by T Rex, and Loreena Mckennit's song about swans, the name of which escapes me at the mo. Loreena lives in Stratford and hangs out at Balzac's coffee, although we were told that while we were visiting, she was in the UK working on her new CD. It has been eight years since here last release. A lifetime in the music biz, but Loreena has an intenational following of very loyal fans. I saw her once play Massey Hall. Ofra Harnoy came out for one song and wowed the audience with her playing on the song about Lancelot. Anyway, here is a photoshop montage of a swan and a bridge on the Avon, Ontario that is.

A Weekend in Stratford - New Friends and New Possibilities
We spent the weekend in Stratford Ontario, home of the annual Shakespearean festival. We had a wonderful time, went to see four plays, Fanny Kemble, Henry lVth part one, South Pacific, and London Assurance. The B&B was the very best we ever stayed, check them out:

Author, Author & Friends
I'm still recovering from two days in the studio. Here are my wife and two of our friends who happily let me shoot them and enjoy wearing different outfits and makeup. Lots more to post, this is just a sampling

My opinion of The Torment of Others by Val Mcdermid
I ended up finding this book well written, suspenseful, gross, and not as good as The Wire in The Blood, which is the best
in the series imo. I also felt that Val was writing this one with TV in mind. That is hard to avoid when your characters are
taken onto the television screen. But this is not for the faint of heart. I will admit that I am a bit tired of the grisly serial
psycho slicing up their victims, and as a reader, having to wait and see if the character is rescued before they meet a grisly end.
There are certain authors who have the ability to suggest, and plant the idea's in your mind as you read, without
completely shoving it into your face. When I first started reading mysteries, I used to go wow, when I read a book like this. Now I want an author to stretch and work a bit harder at the subtleties, their use of language and story, not just
impress me with how good they are at writing about mutilation.

Dance anyone?
We are in the middle of our Holiday weekend, formerly known as Dominion Day, now aptly retitled Canada Day. I spent part of yesterday drawing more eyeballs and recovering from a long 8 mile run, the longest I've done in awhile. The solitude of the experience and the rythm of it was very satisfying. Not that I like to be alone, but it is just me and nature hammering away, utilizing my strength and stamina for over an hour, with the reward of relaxing for most of the weekend after the finish line. I had a chiropractic adjustment on my spine and neck on Friday, and it made a huge difference not just in my energy levels, but also my range of motion through my neck. I have now convinced my wife to give it a try, as my Dr., Suzanne Crix, also did sacral cranial massage as well. This should help her with the headaches. Maureen's long had a fear of chiropracters, I think she will get great results given time.
On our walk this morning we were going over the next book she wants to work on, which will be #2 in the series about the Forensic Profiler, Christine Morris. The question is where to set the next book. Unlike the Murdoch series, Maureen is having to create another universe with each new Christine book, as the setting for the next novel will be different. The question is does she have Christine come back to Canada to work in a case, or does she keep her over in the UK. The location will become clear once she finishes the book she is working on. In the meantime Maureen is cooking story ideas. Stay tuned.
